Glacier National Park Lodging

Hey folks, in this article I would like to discuss the lodging facilities located in Glacier National Park for those of you who plan on traveling there. I have personally been to both Yellowstone and Glacier National Park and have experienced the pristine beauty that the park has to offer.

To give you a little background information on the park itself, it was named our countries tenth national park in 1910 when President Taft singed a bill. The park itself is comprised mainly of about 1.2 million acres of hills, smooth valleys, jagged mountains, and many lakes. It really is a once in a lifetime trip. Not to mention that you will get to see many different species of wildlife. I personally saw tons of elk, buffalo, a few moose, some mountain goats, and a few rams. In order to fully comprehend the sheer beauty of this park, you will have to witness it first hand.

 So this is what you most likely came here to figure out and I will provide you with some guidelines regarding lodging areas and how to plan your trip around them. Before planning your vacation to Glacier, I recommend that you first figure out what what area inside the park that you want to visit and then figure out what lodges or hotels are near. This is important because of how big the park actually is.

Because I have visited the park, I will tell you a little bit about some areas that I recommend you check out while on vacation. I stayed at five different lodges during my stay at the park and each one of them was nothing short of fantastic. The parks staff and management really do an awesome job. Lake McDonald lodge is nestled right next to - you guessed it = beautiful Lake McDonald and has some very good fishing if you are interested. The rooms were great and the view was breathtaking.

Some other places that are really nice are the Prince of Whales hotel located just north of the Canadian border. This hotel overlooks Lake Waterton and the town of Waterton itself. This place truly is a great place for lodging. Another one of my favorites is located just outside the park. It is called Glacier Park Lodge and is a great place for golfers and people who simply want to kick back and enjoy the view - maybe while the others go on a hiking trip.

Overall, I would have to say that Lake McDonald Lodge was my favorite place that I stayed during my vacation at Glacier. If you do end up traveling to this destination, then I hope you enjoy it.
