Okuma Fly Reels

The number one thing about fly reels that any fisherman needs to understand is that cheap products are not worth wasting money on. There are so many people out there that are looking to save money. This is a completely normal occurrence when with fishing equipment. Heck, people wanting to get something for nothing is common for almost any product out there. Here is the bottom line – don’t do it. I am just like all of you guys; I want a great reel for a small price. However, I know better because I have made this particular mistake before. The only difference was that the mistake I made cost me a lot more than most reels cost. I bought a fly reel once that was a little over one hundred dollars. However, this one was made by a high dollar name brand company that I had used before. The only problem was that the other ones that I had were the higher level models. After doing some research, I learned that several of their products were made in different places. As you could have probably guessed, the one that I had was made a lot cheaper than the others. Man, I was mad to say the least, but I eventually got over it. I learned that there is no point in spending money on fly reels that are cheap. The reason is that I ended up going out and buying an Okuma fly reel for even more money. I was satisfied with this one and happy that I learned my lesson. For trying to be cheap in the first place, I ended up having to spend even more money on a quality fly fishing reel.

So now I want to talk about okuma fly reels. I was really surprised with this brand for a wide variety of reasons. The first was that I was really surprised with the price. I am one of those types that just has to try different gear. I like to experiment with different brands and learn which ones were really worth the price and which were not. The trick is that most of the time, I don’t even have pay to use them. If you go to a local sporting goods store, then you may be able to handle one of the reels. This is exactly how I found the Okuma brand of fly fishing reels. The price on these reels tops out a lot less than many of the others. The most I have seen these go for is around two hundred dollars. If you know a thing or two about these reels, then you know that this is not that high of a price. I also learned a thing or two about Okuma through reading reviews and forums. Customers often leave reviews and their comments pertaining to their experience with the product. So if you are curious about this particular brand, then that is the best way to develop a well rounded opinion. Anyways, I really like the Okuma fly reels because of the nice drag system. People never think about this part until they loose a big fish because of it. I like the ratio system as well.

I have heard not so great things about Okuma, but every time I went to the store they would tell me repeatidly about Okuma. I went to a good buddy for some opinion right out of the mouth of someone I trust. He told me he bought one and it was made very cheaply and that it was deafenently not worth the money.
